Eleani, first philos
The negative was found in a yellow Kodak box inside a canister labelled Eleani first philos. The box is stamped "3 34", likely the month and year it was processed by a lab. There are similar stamps on other Kodak boxes. There are no edge markings on the film apart from frame numbers.
The whole roll contains photographs taken before or after a graduation ceremony. The building in the background appears to be the Quadrangle in the University of Sydney.
The young lady wearing an academic gown must be Eleani. "Philos" could refer to a Doctor of Philosophy degree. "First" is somewhat puzzling. Did Eleani have more than one PhD? In the 1940s there were not a lot of women in Australia (or anywhere else in the world) with several PhD degrees.
The photographs are good quality, but they lack the finesse of the other images in the archive, mostly in composing the images and lighting the subject.
